Job Qualifications I. Qualifications
a. Minimum of sophomore standing
b. An overall GPA of 3.25 is required
c. A 3.0 or higher in the selected course is required. Previous enrollment with
the faculty member is preferred
d. Content-competency is required (faculty member will determine)
e. Interpersonal and communication skills are essential (SI coordinator will
f. Able to facilitate learning activities with small or large groups
g. Able to speak in front of small or large groups
Position Description/ Job Duties I. Basic Responsibilities
a. Attend all class meetings, take class notes, and read all assigned materials
required for the course
b. Conduct 2-3 weekly SI sessions throughout the semester using SI strategies
and SI model
c. Meet regularly with SI coordinator for debrief and support sessions
i. Discuss SI observations
ii. Discuss SI planning sessions and use of variety of learning strategies
iii. Notify SI coordinator about problems or potential problems
d. Assist SI coordinator in training other SI leaders
e. Maintain a professional manner at all times

II. Essential Duties
a. Provide extra SI sessions and/or marathon sessions as necessary (e.g. prior
to examinations)
b. Determine course requirements and maintain contact throughout the term
with course faculty member
c. Meet with other campus SI leaders and supervisory staff at scheduled
d. Other duties assigned by the SI coordinator
Preferred Availability Needs to be available for class MWF from 9-9:50am.
