Title of Position Lead Athletics Groundskeeper

Basic Responsibilities 1. Maintain sports fields, adjacent common areas and facilities to a professional level.
2. Act as team lead; provide supervision and direction to support Director.
3. Assist other trades and grounds personnel in projects related to facility maintenance.
4. Assist in planning, organizing, and communicating with outside vendors, campus staff and coaches to maintain facility at the highest level.
5. Work ACU athletics games and other outside events on a regular basis.
Essential Duties

Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential function.

1. Mow, edge, weed-eat, blow, and power wash sports fields and adjacent areas.
2. Support Director by serving in team lead capacity by providing direction and supervision to other staff as needed.
3. Prepare athletics fields and facilities for events and game days.
4. Assist with irrigation repair and maintenance as needed.
5. Work ACU athletics games and other outside events during non-regular hours.
6. Assist in annual facility maintenance projects such as hanging nets, wall pads and other projects as determined by the Director.
7. Empty trash before, during and after games and events.
8. Fill out works orders and maintain other written documentation as needed
9. Order materials and supplies as needed.
10. Build and maintain good working relationships with athletics department coaches and staff.
11. Assist with routine maintenance and repair of university owned equipment.
12. Learn and understand annual athletics calendar to better plan and prepare for future.
13. Commitment to details while keeping big picture in mind.
14. Be on call during certain periods of time as determined by the Director.
15. Assist with salt/ice melt as needed.
16. A team player, willing to help as needed without hesitation.
17. Other duties as assigned.

Professional Development Requirements 1. High school diploma or GED.
2. Previous experience in turf and facility maintenance. 1-2 years preferred.
3. Chemical applicator and/or irrigation license is preferred but not mandatory.
4. Knowledge and experience operating turf maintenance equipment, hand and power tools.

Physical Demands 1. The scope of this positions requires works outdoors in the elements (heat/cold) on a frequent and regular basis.
2. Be in good health and endure long hours of work.
3. Operate and handle equipment and machinery.
4. Ability to lift and carry a minimum of fifty pounds.
