The Graduate School of Theology at Abilene Christian University invites applications for a
position of Director of Contextual Education and tenure-track faculty beginning in the
Spring or Fall of 2020. Rank is open, depending on the candidate’s experience and
qualifications. The position involves both teaching and administration.
The Director of Contextual Education will be in charge of implementing, managing, and
monitoring processes for placement of GST students in appropriate contextual education
settings; overseeing student assessment and mentoring; engaging GST faculty in the
development of appropriate experiences for students so as to interweave the rest of the
curriculum with contextual education; and recruiting and overseeing field education supervisors
(ministers in churches or leaders in parachurch settings).
The person appointed must be a motivated, collegial, and service-oriented leader. The
candidate should also demonstrate competence in teaching and should possess or be able to
develop a well-defined program of research as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and
