Basic Responsibilities A. Provide high quality instruction, direction and mentorship for assigned students throughout all phases of the project process.
B. In Chair role, manage and supervise the committee members and methodologists of assigned students.

A. Provide high quality instruction, direction and mentorship for assigned students throughout all phases of the project process.
1. Provide timely and supportive mentoring throughout the student’s process of developing, researching, writing, and revising the project.
2. Direct and instruct the student with the goal of producing high-quality research.
3. Participate in the Defense process of a student’s Prospectus. Offer timely and constructive feedback to facilitate revisions towards a successful project.

5. Comply with all pertinent policies and procedures outlined in Abilene Christian University’s Dissertation and DNP Project Handbook, Faculty Guidelines, and those specified by ACU’s College of Graduate and Professional Studies.
6. Attend/complete program and CGPS faculty trainings and provide credentialing/records updates as required.
7. Collaborate with student’s full committee.
8. In committee role, be willing to follow the lead of the project committee chair regarding interaction with the student.

B. In Chair role, manage and supervise the committee members and methodologists of assigned students.
1. Facilitate the successful completion of all IRB protocols. Ensure that own IRB training is current and meets university and research requirements.
2. Guide the student through the development of the Concept Proposal and Research PICO Question, the IRB Proposal, and the completed project manuscript. Advise the student regarding necessary changed to the project content and research.
3. Reviews student’s clinical log to ensure project development activities are appropriate.
4. Supervise the completion of data collection. Advise the student regarding necessary changes to collection methods and/or processes.
5. Communicate as needed with other committee members, as well as any supporting roles, regarding project process, revisions, and procedures.
6. Provide feedback to Director of the DNP Program and the Manager of Dissertation and Projects regarding any student and/or committee member challenges, issues, or problems.
7. Make recommendations to students regarding the utilization of university resources, as needed.
8. Serve as primary contact and liaison for mentors selected by students in the program and maintains communication as necessary.

B. Training Modules Required

3. Canvas and Bridge (on-Line Learning Platforms)

Qualifications

A. Professional
1. Terminal degree in a health-related field, bachelor’s and master’s degree in a nursing.
2. Current, unencumbered registered nurse and/or advanced practice nurse licensure.
3. 3-5 years of clinical, managerial and/or leadership experience, preferably in diverse populations.
4. Experience in research design/methodology.
5. Evidence of quality research completed in the last ten years [e.g. publications in peer reviewed journals, conference presentations, program evaluation reports, etc.].
6. Online instructional experience and working in a virtual team environment preferred.
7. Prior service as project chair or co-chair, preferred.
8. Computer literate in software and internet based applications.
9. Proficient in APA style (formatting, citation requirements, punctuation, etc.).

1. Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
2. Ability to view and manage role and responsibilities in relation to larger mission, goals and perspective of the University.
3. Collaborative nature, with the ability to build consensus.
4. Outstanding organizational and project management skills with the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
5. Self-motivated and solves problems, asking for input and initiating solutions as appropriate and reasonable.
6. Capacity to quickly learn new software applications
7. Willingness to receive additional training and/or faculty mentoring.
8. Ability to demonstrate good judgment when interacting with students, other faculty and staff.

Physical Demands A. Majority of work is performed in front of a computer and on the telephone; must have ability to use the computer and remain stationary for long periods of time.
B. Manage conversations in person, online and by telephone.
C. Work well under pressure and manage stress well.
D. Communicate clearly: speak, read, write, and hear clearly to perform essential functions.
