Essential Duties

A. Manage hardware and software protection tools and resources
1. Manage and maintain campus perimeter firewalls
2. Manager and maintain campus Intrusion Detection and Prevention system
3. Manage and maintain campus vulnerability assessment systems
4. Manage and maintain campus security information and event management system
5. Research, recommend, and implement security solutions to safeguard ACU assets
B. Investigate suspicious activity and identify appropriate responses
1. Maintain signatures or threat intelligence recommendations to identify suspicious

2. Manager monitoring and alerting procedures to ensure timely identification of
suspicious activity
3. Coordinate with administrators from other IT groups and appropriate campus
personnel to determine appropriate response to suspicious activity
4. Manage, maintain, and execute an Incident Response Plan
C. Develop, recommend, and maintain security policies and procedures
1. Periodically review university policies and procedures pertaining to information
2. Develop and recommend changes or new policies and/or procedures to enhance
the university’s security posture
3. Participate or coordinate periodic security audits, assessments, or reviews
4. Chair or facilitate the occasional Information Technology working group to
address areas of concern identified in the periodic security audit, assessment, or

2. Coordinate with the Helpdesk and Team55, providing appropriate security

university’s security posture
5. Conduct periodic hunt exercises with members of the university’s IT team

B. Training Modules Required:
1. Information Security professional certification such as, Certified Information
Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager
(CISM), or GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC)
2. Attendance at security-related national conferences and training
Qualifications A. Professional
1. Bachelor's Degree in computer related field or equivalent in experience
2. 4-5 years’ experience system administration in a multi-user environment
3. 2-4 years’ experience with wide and local area network technologies
4. Experience with Center for Internet Security (CIS) Controls or National Institute
of Standards and Technology (NIST) security standards, guidelines, and

1. Ability to handle sensitive information in a discrete, responsible manner
2. Ability to communicate complex issues in common terms
3. High level of problem solving and technical troubleshooting
4. Ability to work in a team oriented environment
