Basic Responsibilities
  1. Instruct nurse aide student activities in the classroom, lab and long term care facility.
  2. Instruct, supervise and provide assistance to students in the lab and long term care facility.
  3. Communicate with the director of the nurse aide program plus other health care providers.
Essential Duties
  1. Instruct nurse aide student activities in the classroom, lab and long term care facility.
    1. Assure that classroom instruction meets standards of the approved program curriculum and state standards that nurse aide student provides safe care to long term care residents.
    2. Instruct and supervise nurse aide students while learning and practicing skills in a lab setting.
    3. Instruct and supervise nurse aide students in interactions with long term care residents and their families.
  2. Instruct, supervise and provide assistance to students in the lab and long term care facility.
    1. Instruct, supervise and provide assistance to nurse aide students in complete safe basic nursing skills with residents in long term care.
    2. Instruct, supervise and provide assistance to nurse aide students to accurately complete basic nursing skills in a lab setting.
    3. Set up lab and return the lab to pre-class condition for each program session.
  3. Communicate with the director of the nurse aide program plus other health care providers.
    1. Provide appropriate written and oral communication concerning nurse aide students to the director and other health care providers.
    2. Complete computerized communication.
    3. Communicate with a good command of the English language.
Professional Development Requirements
  1. Skills 
  1. All basic nursing skills appropriate for the certified nursing aide.
  2. Computer skills to include Microsoft Word and email functions.
  3. Communication skills appropriate for a health care provider.
  1. Training Modules Required
  1. Basic nursing skills modules
  2. Other modules as required for approved program curriculum.
Qualifications
  1. Professional
  1. Active, unencumbered, Texas LVN license.
  2. Minimum one year of work experience in long term care.
  3. Able to pass a background check and drug test.
  1. Personal
  1. A good command of the English language.
  2. Works well within a team.
  3. Good communication skills.
Dependable.

Physical Demands
  1. Mobile enough to supervise students in the lab and/or clinical setting.
  2. Able to lift 25 pounds.
