Faculty Position Information

The School of Social Work at Abilene Christian University invites applications and/or nominations for Assistant Professor, Tenure Track 9 month position in the Master of Science in Social Work program, ACU School of Social Work, with appointment in August 2021. Although the successful candidate will be primarily assigned to the graduate program, they will be expected to teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
ACU’s School of Social Work offers both the Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) and the Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) degrees. The graduate program has a single concentration, Advanced Generalist Practice with an Evidence-Based Practice emphasis. Both programs utilize a capstone experience that emphasizes social work research, with the MSSW requiring a thesis.
ABD or MSW with outstanding practice experience (including teaching) may be considered. The ability to teach across the social work curriculum is expected. Experience supervising theses and/or dissertations is highly desirable. At least three years of post-MSW practice experience is expected for appointment at the assistant professor level. Preference will be given to candidates who have strong micro-practice backgrounds and experience with social work field education, including supervision of field education students. Possession of the LCSW license or equivalent is highly desired.



The successful candidate should hold the Master’s degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited or internationally-recognized social work program, and a doctorate in social work or a related field.
