Basic Responsibilities
  1. Direct the comprehensive assessment of communication needs for all units within the Advancement Division.
  2. Write and edit material for the Advancement Division.
  3. Work with university staff and outside vendors to produce high-quality communication materials for major campaign efforts, the Exceptional Fund and other coordinated projects.
  4. Plan and coordinate external communication with other divisions and oversee the production of Advancement Division material in ACU Today.
Essential Duties
  1. Direct the comprehensive assessment of communication needs related to the advancement and alumni relations functions at ACU
    1. Help determine communication needs of the Higher Ground Campaign and future campaigns, and create strategies and specific communications to meet those needs
    2. Lead the advancement staff in shaping themes and communication directives
    3. Ensure uniformity and consistency with the vision and values of the university
  2. Write and edit material for the offices of Advancement Division
    1. Write and/or edit event and video scripts as needed
    2. Produce content for campaign materials, such as brochures and case statements
    3. Produce and regularly update content for the Advancement Division on ACU’s web pages
    4. Write and edit letters for mass mailings and various proposals
    5. Write and edit emails for advancement and alumni relations purposes
  3. Work with university staff and outside vendors to produce quality communication materials for Advancement Campaigns, the Exceptional Fund and other coordinated projects.
    1. Write and edit text for internal and external communication
    2. Work to advance the division’s message to achieve campaign objectives
    3. Coordinate communication strategies with Ruffalo Noel Levitz, and edit scripts for that vendor’s call center
  4. Plan and coordinate external communication with other divisions and oversee the production of Advancement Division material in ACU Today.
    1. Create and update a division-wide communication calendar for the purposes of coordinating the university’s external communication
    2. Write and edit advancement material for ACU Today, serve on the magazine advisory board, and work to ensure it reflects the priorities of the Advancement Division
    3. Schedule, write and edit fundraising material for the Athletics Division as needed
    4. Assist other university departments, as able, in ensuring the timeliness and professionalism of their communication to ACU alumni
Professional Development Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in journalism, advertising/public relations, marketing, communication or related field required
