Basic Responsibilities A. Review student accounts and ISIR lists and award financial aid to eligible
students.
B. Maintain a working knowledge of current federal, state, and institutional
regulations in regard to financial aid.
C. Support the Enrollment Management and Financial Operations offices in
monitoring Account Receivables to assist in meeting the enrollment, retention,
and revenue goals.
D. Compliance with NCAA rules is of the utmost importance at Abilene Christian
University. As an individual with responsibilities associated with the Athletics
department, it is expected that you will have a full understanding of the NCAA
rules that pertain to your position. It is also expected that you will comply with
these rules, and if you become aware, or have reasonable cause to believe, that a
violation of a rule has occurred, you will immediately report it to your supervisor
and the Director of Athletics or his/her designee.
E. Contribute to various review committees, such as the Financial Aid Appeal
Committee and Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal Committee, as assigned.
F. Make appropriate referrals to other student services offices as needed for the
student’s benefit.
Essential Duties

A. Review student accounts and ISIR lists and award financial aid to eligible students.

1. Process a variety of financial aid electronic forms/paperwork and award
financial aid.
2. Perform the batch packaging process to identify all students who are ready for
packaging on a regularly scheduled basis.
3. Review student aid packages to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
4. Processing of financial aid funding notifications.
5. Assist in the verification process as documents are received.
6. Exercise professional judgment and properly respond to special circumstance
and dependency override requests.

B. Maintain a working knowledge of current federal, state, and institutional regulations
regarding financial aid eligibility and processing.
1. Understand and utilize the SFS Program Summary to ensure compliance and
the equitable distribution of all types of aid.
2. Make use of and assist in regular updates to the Banner Procedures manual to
ensure consistency in all Banner processes.
3. Monitor listserves and attend training opportunities to stay current on financial
aid regulatory changes and best practices.

C. Support the Financial Operations Office and Enrollment Management in monitoring
Account Receivables to assist in meeting the enrollment, retention and revenue goals.
1. Educate students and their families on the consequences of their financial
decisions.
2. Hold students and their families accountable for their commitments and
promises in regards to financial settlement.
3. Work proactively to move all students toward meeting financial settlement
deadlines.
D. NCAA Compliance
1. Serve as backup awarding specialist for athletic awards from grant-in-aid
contracts in accordance with all NCAA guidelines for such aid.
2. Maintain a full understanding of all NCAA financial aid guidelines.
3. Report any possible violations of NCAA rules to your supervisor and the
Athletics Department immediately.

Qualifications A. Professional
1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
2. Experience working with federal forms and an understanding of federal
terminology
3. Experience and competence with business computer tools like the Microsoft
Office Suite products
4. Strong math skills
5. Experience in a Higher Education setting is preferred, but not required
6. Experience with Ellucian-Banner is preferred, but not required
