Title of Position Endowment and Investments Accountant / Operations Specialist

Basic Responsibilities A. Assist with accounting for investments.
B. Assist with internal management reporting.
C. Internal accounting and documentation of endowments, trusts and annuities.
D. Assist with creation of endowment agreements
E. Support relationships with other campus offices (Legal, Advancement, Student
Financial Services, Stewardship, Finance)
F. Support other office functions as needed
Essential Duties

A. Assist with accounting for investments.

1. Balance investment holdings, activity and manager statements with internal
records. (capital calls, distributions, unfunded commitments, market value
change)

2. Investment performance data extraction and reporting
3. Assist with data entry related to the quarterly rebalancing of university and trust
investments.
B. Assist with internal reporting including
1. Internal management reports – monthly
2. Endowment activity detail reports - monthly
3. Investment committee reports – quarterly
4. Endowment balance roll forward – quarterly
C. Internal accounting and documentation of endowments, trusts and annuities.
1. Prepare various journal entries for general ledger system as needed
2. Assist with month end procedures, cash transfers and journal entries
3. Extract and analyze general ledger activity for the endowment as needed
4. Assist with fiscal year end close procedures including preparation of audit
schedules and information for the University’s financial statement footnotes
5. Assist with daily and monthly data entry for trusts and annuities, including
beneficiary distributions, fees and daily transactions
6. Assist with preparation of information for trust tax returns
7. Assist with accounting and related documentation of new and matured trusts
and annuities as well as Donor Advised Fund activity.
D. Assist in creation of endowment agreements
1. Coordinate with Advancement Officers with their requests for new endowment
agreements for donors and create the document
2. Ensure that final signed agreements for new endowments are received and that
they are set up on the general ledger properly for reporting and are included in
proper schedules

E. Support relationships with other campus offices
1. Work with Legal and Advancement regarding endowment, trust and annuity
issues
2. Work with Finance regarding general ledger, posting and year end procedures
3. Maintain relationship with Stewardship office for endowment balance and
spending related issues and questions

Professional Development Requirements

A. Skills
1. High level of proficiency with Excel spreadsheet application
2. Proficient with 10 key / data entry
3. Microsoft Word

4. Ability to use the internet to gather information
B. Training Modules Required
1. ACU Finance system - Banner
2. Internal trust software – FIS Charlotte trust system
3. Cognos – Finance system data extraction module

Qualifications

A. Professional
1. Significant accounting and general ledger experience
2. Demonstrated ability for detail
3. Degree in accounting, MACC or CPA a plus
B. Personal
1. Excellent organizational and record keeping skills, very detail oriented

2. Excellent communication skills
3. Ability to handle confidential information appropriately
4. Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks well, prioritize
5. Flexibility – able to adjust and deal with frequent change or interruption

Physical Demands A. Ability to sit and work at computer for long periods of time.
