Title of Position Instructional Design Technologist
Posting Location ACU Dallas - Remote

Basic Responsibilities

 

  1. Provide expertise in the LMS (Canvas) and other educational technologies to support online instruction
  2. Work with subject matter experts, faculty, and program directors to create high-quality academic and non-academic courses.
  3. Apply best practices in instructional design theories and methods.
Essential Duties
  1. Support faculty, program directors and students with Canvas classroom administration and educational technologies
  2. Oversee the instructional design ticketing system for online courses
  3. Install, integrate, and manage LTIs and other educational technologies into Canvas including DesignPlus and publisher courseware.
  4. Recommend changes to existing courses, including technology or instructional methods, to ensure courses align with ACU academic quality standards.
  5. Design a variety of instructional materials for traditional instructor-led courses, non-instructor led courses, web-based learning aids or products, and other programs as needed.
  6. Recommend changes to existing courses, including technology or instructional methods, to better adhere to delivery options for the course.
  7. Review canvas course builds to ensure they meet or exceed institutional standards, and provide reports as needed.
  8. Adapt coursework to assist learners with disabilities so that they are able to experience the same learning opportunities as others.
  9. Remain aware of all emerging instructional technologies and make recommendations about when to adopt certain systems to continue to offer the best learning experience possible.
  10. Oversee start of term process including course copy.
  11. Creating training and resources for subject matter experts and faculty.
Professional Development Requirements
  1. Experience building courses within Canvas Learning Management System
  2. Administrator of Canvas Learning Management System (strongly preferred but not required)
  3. Experience with DesignPlus (strongly preferred but not required)
  4. Google Suite Products such as Google Docs
  5. Knowledge of instructional design theories and practices
  6. Experience with reviewing and creating curriculum and learning outcomes
Qualifications
  1. Professional
  1. Master’s degree
  2. Previous experience in higher education instructional design preferred
  3. Outstanding organizational, problem-solving, customer service, and project management skills
Physical Demands
  1. Activities performed require extended periods of using a computer and sitting at a desk.
