Basic Responsibilities
  • Oversee all facets of the department’s digital and social media efforts as it relates to graphic design, photography and videography to tell the story of ACU Athletics while meeting brand standards;
  • Serve as the primary media contact for Soccer, Softball and secondary media contact for Basketball (M/W);
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive digital and social media strategy with a key focus on elevating fan engagement, growing our social media communities and enhancing the ACU Athletics brand;
  • Manage the graphic design needs for ACU Athletics and individual sports teams for website, social media, in-venue and other digital platforms;
  • Provide leadership and direction for creative staff as assigned. This includes but not limited to: Social Media Coordinator, Creative Content Coordinator, Graphic Designer, Graphic Design Assistant Student Interns, and Student Volunteers.
Essential Duties

Oversee all facets of the department’s digital and social media efforts as it relates to graphic design, photography and videography to tell the story of ACU Athletics while meeting brand standards.

  • Work alongside Strategic Communications Team and Sport Programs on the creative strategy to promote individual sport programs and the department through creative content;
  • Collaborate with Marketing Team to create elevated content to enhance the game day experience for fans;
  • Lead the execution of all creative projects under the ACU Athletics department;
  • Oversee the creative team staff schedule for home and away events to ensure coverage of programs.

Serve as the primary media contact for Soccer, Softball and secondary media contact for Basketball (M/W).

  • Perform game-day operations related to media, press box, scorer’s table, game statistics, online streaming and pre/post press conferences for assigned sports
  • Travel with select sports to ensure coverage of programs;
  • Support sports program’s prospective student-athlete visits through recruiting content and photoshoots.

Develop and implement a comprehensive digital and social media strategy with a key focus on elevating fan engagement, growing our social media communities and enhancing the ACU Athletics brand.

  • Direct oversight and daily management of the department’s social media platforms;
  • Lead the organization and implementation of all phases of the creative process through a content management system and calendar to ensure projects are completed in a timely manner;
  • Work with the General Manager of Abilene Sports Properties to ensure all corporate sponsorship agreements are being fulfilled as it relates to creative content;
  • Work collaboratively with the University's Division of Marketing and Strategic Communication office on promoting athletics events.

Manage the graphic design needs for ACU Athletics and individual sports teams for website, social media, in-venue and other digital platforms.

  • Lead the creative direction of the ACU Athletics Brand;
  • Oversee the graphic design content requested by Athletic Department through print and digital media;
  • Ensure quality control, including proofing, reviewing, and evaluating creative output.

Provide leadership and direction for creative staff as assigned. This includes but not limited to: Social Media Coordinator, Creative Content Coordinator, Graphic Designer, Graphic Design Assistant Student Interns, and Student Volunteers.

  • Oversee the Creative Content Internship Program;
  • Delegate tasks among staff to guarantee creative projects are fully executed in a timely manner;
  • Develop a staff handbook for the creative team and update the document annually;
  • Establish cohesive annual goals for the creative team;
  • Provide staff performance appraisal documentation for all staff on the creative team and provide reports to the Senior Associate AD for Brand Development and Fan Experience.
Professional Development Requirements
  • High degree of self-motivation to elevate a growing department;
  • Strong written, organizational and communication skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adhere to deadlines;
  • Capability to establish and nurture strong relationships with students and members of the community;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, creative software programs and social networking sites.
Qualifications

Professional

  • Bachelor’s Degree and interest in Communications, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Marketing, Public Relations or related field;
  • Three (3) to Four (4) years of experience in Creative Services/Media Relations;
  • Capacity to interpret and review manuals, reports and proposals;
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends;
  • Experience managing a staff.

  • Professional appearance and positive attitude that represents the department well;
  • Support of the mission of ACU to educate students for Christian service and leadership throughout the world.

  • The scope of the position frequently requires weekend and evening work, long;
  • hours and occasional overnight, out-of-town travel;
  • High energy level, ability to maintain several activities at a time;
  • Ability to manage stress and handle interruptions;
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.;
  • Extended periods of walking and climbing stairs;
  • Possible exposure to weather extremes.
