Essential Duties

Program Development

  • Develop, manage, promote and assess year-round intramural and club sports programs.

  • Design and implement a comprehsive schedule of intramural sports activities throughout the year.

  • Develop new programs and initiatives to enhance student participation and engagement.

  • Collaborate with students interested in lauching new club sports teams.


Staff Supervison and Development  

  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise student assistants, referees and other peronnel.

  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, professionalism, and personal growth.

  • Maintain and document safety certifications for all employees.


Operations Management 

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of all intramural and club sports activities.

  • Coordinate facility reservations, equipment purchases and maintenance.

  • Ensure appropriate supervision/officiating/safety needs at all competition locations.

  • Revise and update intramural and club sports policies and procedures handbook as needed.

  • Ensure all policies and procedures are enforced during events and activities.

  • Assist club sports teams with registration and payment for all out-of-town competitions.

  • Create and Maintain all forms, records and necessary paperwork concerning student eligibility, risk management and travel for club sports teams.

  • Process expense reports and reimbursement forms for club sports team members. 

  • Collaborate with playing field maintenance personnel to ensure quality playing surface.

  • Assess participation, satisfaction and effectiveness of intramural and club sports program through surveys, focus groups and other data assessment tools.

  • Maintain availability to students and student groups to discuss policies, event/competition questions and concerns with department.


Budget and Resource Management 

  • Collaborate with excutive director to develop the the budget for intramural and club sports programs.

  • Monitor expenditures and maintain financial records in accordance with university policies.

  • Review and track event registration and travel expenditures for club sports program.


Promotion and Outreach

  • Develop marketing strategies to promote intramural and club sports programs.

  • Utilize social media, campus publications, and other channels to increase awareness and participation.

  • Collaborate with campus organizations and departments to promote a diverse and inclusive sports environment.

Professional Development Requirements

Required Skills  

  • Word processing and database management. (Microsoft Word/Excel & Google Docs/Spreadsheets/Forms)

  • Experience in using social media. (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram)

Training Required (or, at the discretion of the Executive Director, competencies demonstrated).

  • IM Leagues.

  • Sports official training in multiple sports.

Qualifications

Professional

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Kinesiology or related field preferred. (Master’s degree in health promotions, recreation management or related field preferred).

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in intramural and club sports administration or related field preferred.

  • Strong organizational, leadership and communication skills.

  • Experience with budget management and financial planning.

  • Experience working in university or college setting.

  • Knowledge of sports programming, rules and regulations.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by the schedule of activities.

  • Conflict resolution, including demonstrated pattern of communication that minimizes conflict.

  • A commitment to continuous professional development.

  • Current certification in CPR/AED/First Aid.

  • Ability to mentor and advise students.

  • Capable of moving equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. frequently.
