Title of Position Compliance Coordinator

  1. Takes lead role in establishing and monitoring initial eligibility of student-athletes. 

  2. Serves as liaison between the athletic department and Admissions, International Office, and Registrar Office. 

  3. Assists in analyzing NCAA and Western Athletic Conference rules and regulations governing member institutions as well as University institutional policies to generate specific procedures to monitor and document institutional compliance. 

  4. Assists in implementing educational programs for coaches, student-athletes, staff, and boosters.

Essential Duties
  1. Compliance Data and Records Management:

  • Evaluate and establish prospective student-athlete initial eligibility in conjunction with the Registrar Office (e.g. transcript evaluations, Admissions processes, NCAA Eligibility Center).  

  • Document incoming and outgoing student-athlete transfer and graduation information (e.g. APR Tracers, NCAA Transfer Portal). 

  • Assist with maintaining departmental compliance data and records in various software systems (e.g. ARMS, CAi, Banner, Slate). 

  • Monitor recruiting documentation (e.g. travel requests, on-campus visits).

  • Monitor playing season documentation (e.g. practice logs).  

  • Maintain the complimentary ticket pass lists for coaches, student-athletes, and prospective student-athletes. 

  • Educate student-athletes on NCAA, Western Athletic Conference, and ACU rules. 


  1. Reporting

  • Assist with the submission of eligibility list reports to the Western Athletic Conference.

  • Assist with the submission of reports related to APR, GSR, Sports Sponsorship, and financial aid as requested. 


  1. Department Administration

  • Train new staff and coaches on compliance office policies and procedures. 


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with workers for special events (NCAA/Western Athletic Conference events). 

CONTACTS:  Primary contacts are the Senior Associate AD for Internal Operations/SWA, Director of Athletics, coaches, and staff. Other contacts are the Registrar and Registrar Liaison, Admissions, International Office, Western Athletic Conference Compliance, and NCAA membership services. Contact with other colleges and universities as required. 

 

Professional Development Requirements
  1. Knowledge of NCAA and Western Athletic Conference rules. 

  2. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights or weekends. 

  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. 

  4. Strong organizational and time management skills. 

  5. Competence with various software packages: Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Drive, Banner, Slate, ARMS, CAi, etc.

Qualifications

A. Professional
1. Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree preferred
2. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
3. NCAA Compliance experience preferred (1-2 years)

B. Personal
1. Goal-oriented, self-motivated, and reliable.
2. Accurate and detail-oriented.
3. Strong work ethic and organizational skills.
4. Ability to interact well with a diverse population, including: coaches, faculty, staff, current and prospective students, administration, alumni, and boosters.
5. Strong Christian beliefs and participation in a local church.
