Serves as a subject-specialist librarian in the field of religion and theological studies. Teaches one course per year for the College of Biblical Studies. Offers bibliographic instruction to students, especially students of religion. Works with the Collection Services department in Religion and related areas. Serves as a librarian/archivist for the Center for Restoration Studies. Responsible to the Director of Public and Reference Services.
Basic Responsibilities:
Offers reference services to all students as needed. Serves as the primary reference librarian for students of religion.
Manages the day-to-day operations of the Gaines Stanley Theological Reading Room, a departmental library with approximately 80,000 volumes that supports the ACU community.
Teaches one course in Research Methods for all graduate students in theological studies.
Has primary responsibility for collection development in religion and related areas.
Manages collections endowments for the acquisition of theological materials.
Supervises weeding and evaluating of gift books in the subject field.
Selects materials for purchases, working with faculty and other librarians.
Offers bibliographic instruction to all students, especially students of religion.
Supervises one part-time professional and several student employees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Master’s degree from an American Library Association-accredited library program
Additional graduate degree in a theological or religious studies field strongly preferred
High level of interpersonal communication skills.
Teaching and/or library experience preferred.
Membership in the American Theological Library Association preferred.
