Basic Responsibilities
  1. Coaching and Teaching student-athletes 

  2. Assist in all aspects of Recruiting.

  3. Student-athlete development

  4. Social Media Coordinator

  5. Responsible for scout team and managers

  6. Summer camp coach and counselor

  7. Other duties as directed by Head Women’s Basketball Coach

Essential Duties

 A. Coaching and Teaching student-athletes

  1. Teach and instruct principles, skills and techniques of the game.
  2. Teach and develop physical skills of basketball.
  3. Teach and develop mental skills of basketball.
  4. Ascertain game plan for opponent.
  5. Organize game film for staff and team.
  6. Teach and develop spiritual and relational goals for basketball student-athletes.

      

 B. Recruiting 

  1. Evaluate potential basketball student-athletes
  2. Recruit potential basketball student-athletes via mail-outs, phone contacts, and personal visits on and off campus.
  3. Establish and develop relationships with high school coaches, AAU Coaches, and other sources of potential basketball student-athletes.

 C. NCAA Regulations 

  1. Responsible for understanding NCAA rules for yourself and your student-athletes.
  2. Compliance with NCAA rules is of the utmost importance at Abilene Christian University. As a member of the athletics department staff, it is expected that you will have a full understanding of the NCAA rules that pertain to your position. It is also expected that you will comply with all NCAA rules, and if you become aware, or have reasonable cause to believe, that a violation of a rule has occurred, you will immediately report it to the Director of Athletics or his/her designee.
Professional Development Requirements

A. Skills  

  1. Adept interpersonal and communication skills
  2. Strong organizational skills
  3. Excellent knowledge of basketball
  4. Photo Shop Skills
  5. Experience with creating digital content

B. Training Modules Required

  1. Basketball clinics and seminars

  2. Leadership, management, and decision-making workshops

Qualifications

A. Professional

  1. Bachelor’s Degree required; master’s degree preferred.

  2. Coaching experience

  3. Leadership or management experience

B. Personal

  1. Self-motivated, resourceful, and creative

  2. Strong communication and professional skills

  3. Ability to work and interact well with all levels of staff, faculty, and administration.

Physical Demands

A. Strong voice for extended period of talking.

B. Able to demonstrate techniques used in basketball.

C. Able to adapt to long, extended hours of travel.
