About ACU

Basic Responsibilities

A. Work as directed by the director of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing.

B. Oversee the maintenance and operation of the Central Plant and all other HVAC to ensure proper operation and maximum efficiency.

C. Coordinate with the Energy Specialist the operation of the Building Automation System to ensure proper operation and maximum efficiency.

D. Oversee the maintenance and operation of the all kitchen equipment, walk-in coolers and ice machines on campus

E. To develop departmental budgets and manage expenditures to stay within budget.

F. To work cooperatively with all the Operations employees in the spirit of teamwork.

Essential Duties

A. Follow the established rules, policies & procedures of Facilities & Campus Management and the University

B. Display necessary initiative to work alone or in groups. Work with and supervise full time employees and student workers.

C. Be available for emergency call outs after hours and during inclement weather.

D. Responsible for the operation of the Central Plant and all its components.

E. Maintain all chemical systems in order to maintain the plant.

F. Be responsible for data entry and monitoring the building monitoring system.

G. Manage preventative maintenance program for all HVAC and kitchen equipment.

H. Do studies and investigate different avenues of ways to conserve energy for the campus. 

Professional Development Requirements

A. Skills Required

1. Mechanically minded

2. Knowledge of computers and components.

3. Skilled in typical computer software for building automation system applications.

4. Understand the operations of Word and Excel programming.

5. Teach troubleshooting of the refrigerant cycle and electrical controls in the field.

 

B. Training Modules

1. Written & verbal communication skills.

2. Must have basic safety training.

3. Emphasize excellent customer relations and service

Qualifications

 A. Professional

1. High school diploma or GED.

2. Minimum 10 years of experience operating and maintaining commercial HVAC equipment

3. Minimum of 3 years of managing in the HVAC industry.

 

B. Personal

1. Honest, responsible and a person of high integrity.

2. Good moral character.

3. Trustworthy, dependable, and punctual.

4. Good leadership qualities. 

Physical Demands A. Be in good health and spirit of mind.
