Employment Opportunities at ACU

ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. All applicants must be professing Christians and willing to support the Christian mission and purpose of Abilene Christian University while employed by the university.

1. Work as directed by the Director of Landscape & Grounds
2. Works with other managers in overall supervision of the Grounds Department as directed by the Director of Landscape & Grounds.
3. Maintains all aspects of the irrigation systems.
4. Assist other trades and grounds personnel as needed in a spirit of cooperation and teamwork.
5. Continue to train and develop to the highest levels.
6. Supervise any students assigned to the irrigation Department.
7. Supervise staff assigned to the irrigation Department.

1. Follow established rules, policies, and procedures of the Landscape & Grounds Department and ACU.
2. Order materials and supplies as needed for the completion of daily tasks.
3. Fill out work orders and written documentation
4. Install and oversee installation of sprinkler systems.
5. Maintain and adjust all times on sprinkler systems.
6. Display initiative to work by one’s self or in groups.
7. Maintain all electrical systems that are connected to irrigation systems.
8. Must assist in spreading of ice melt during icy days.
9. Repair and maintain equipment to maintain the resources of the University

1. Knowledge of hand and power tools.
2. Operate large equipment such as bobcats and backhoe.
3. Computer training.
4. Ability to read irrigation plans.
5. Written and verbal communication skills

Professional

1. High School diploma or GED
2. Licensed irrigator or Licensed irrigation technician.

1. Good health; able to work in extreme heat and cold
2. Must be able to climb a ladder
