Basic Responsibilities  
  1. Responsible for curriculum administration and curricular integrity.

  2. Lead the division regarding specified academic projects and initiatives on the residential campus and in programs jointly administered with branch campus(es).

  3. Implement the strategic plan through regular collaboration with university partners within and outside the academic division. 

  4. Provide supervision for leaders in study abroad, international programs, curriculum development, experiential learning, and university access programs.

  5. Provide leadership regarding academic policies, procedures and practices.

  6. In the absence of the Provost, act as chief academic officer.

Essential Duties  
  1. Responsible for curriculum administration and curricular integrity.

1. Provide guidance and resources to departments and programs as they consider and propose curricular changes. 

2. Represent the Provost’s Office in a variety of university and academic affairs committees, including chairing the AUAC and attending the UGEC and Graduate Council.

  1. Lead the division regarding specified academic projects and initiatives on the residential campus and in programs jointly administered with branch campus(es).

    1. Propose and/or evaluate proposed initiatives designed to improve the effectiveness or efficiency of the division. Designate leaders for implementation of selected initiatives. 

    2. Lead standing committees and councils including but not limited to the Academic Managers.

    3. Contribute to the identification and investigation of potential opportunities for programmatic growth or innovation.

    4. Serve on standing committees or councils including but not limited to the Provost’s Cabinet and Dean’s Council. 

  1. Implement the strategic plan through regular collaboration with university partners within and outside the academic division. 

    1. Partner with other academic division leaders (eg deans, associate/assistant deans and directors, registrar, department chairs) to propose and/or evaluate proposed initiatives designed to improve the university. 

    2. Work closely with college associate deans to ensure consistency and transparency across the organization. 

    3. Represent the academic division in university-wide initiatives, including regular collaboration with employees in the areas of student life, institutional effectiveness, information technology systems, and academic advising. 

  1. Provide supervision for the issues related to experiential learning, study abroad, international programs, and university access programs. 

    1. Supervise the Executive Director of Experiential Learning.

    2. Supervise the Executive Director Study Abroad and International Education.

    3. Supervise the Executive Director of University Access Programs.

  1. Provide leadership regarding academic policies, procedures and practices.

    1. Identify policy needs and work collaboratively to develop or revise policies to ensure academic policies, procedures and practices are up-to-date in accordance with best practices. 

    2. Evaluate student appeals and requests for exception to policy regarding curricular issues.

    3. Provide leadership regarding adherence to university and academic policies, practices and procedures.

    4. Partner with the Faculty Senate and the other standing faculty governance committees to establish, implement and maintain appropriate policies and procedures. 

     F. Perform other professional duties as assigned in support of the Office of the Provost.

1. Proficiency in office management software including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Adobe, etc.

2. Strong abilities in oral and written communication.

Qualifications

 Professional

  1. Doctoral degree from an accredited university 

  2. Tenure at ACU or a teaching, scholarship and service portfolio eligible for tenure

  3. Leadership experience in university academic administration, including managing multiple direct reports 

  4. Demonstrated understanding of university-level operations, budgeting and information technology systems. 

  5. Experience successfully developing and implementing new academic programs, and experience assessing, reporting and identifying opportunities for improvement

  6. Demonstrated ability to work with campus partners to successfully implement change

  1. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships across all levels of the university, internal and external, including shared faculty governance

  2. Strong collaborator 

  3. A record of personal and professional integrity
