Faculty Position Information

 

I. Basic Responsibilities 

 

  1. Provide weekly group supervision for the Internship courses (MFTO 602-609 and Internship Continuation, if required) 

  2. Participate with the program faculty in planning, development, and implementation of the Internship portion of the curriculum.

 

II. Essential Duties  

 

  1. Provide weekly group supervision for the Internship courses (MFTO 602-609 and Internship Continuation, if required) 

    1. Conduct weekly synchronous supervision sessions.

    2. Provide rich and timely feedback on student work, being both encouraging and constructively critical.

    3. Facilitate class size of approximately 8 students.

    4. Provide timely and helpful answers to students’ inquiries regarding course material or academic matters.  

    5. Facilitate and grade all assignments in a timely manner.

    6. Provide supervision about case management skills, general clinical issues, developing clinical skills, and Internship site dynamics. 

    7. Support students as they prepare for the Capstone Theory of Change Paper and Clinical Presentation.

    8. Enter final course grades after consultation with lead faculty and/or program director by deadline.

    9. Alert faculty and/or program director to any student issues.  This includes performance issues (e.g. failing grades, failing to turn in assignments, etc.) and policy violation issues (e.g. plagiarism).

  10. Comply with all pertinent policies and procedures outlined in Abilene Christian University’s Handbook, Faculty Guidelines, and those specified by the college. 

  11. Other duties, as assigned and directed by lead faculty and/or program director.

 

  1. Participate with the program faculty in planning, development, and implementation of the Internship portion of the curriculum.

     1. Provide feedback to program director for program and/or course improvement.

     2. Participate in Program Clinical Supervisor meetings, at least three times a year.

     3. Attend/complete program and CHHS faculty trainings and provide credentialing/records updates as required.

     4. Gain and maintain knowledge of trends and information pertaining to program field through current practice, professional reading, active research and/or continuing education.

IV. Physical Demands

 

  1. Must have ability to use the computer and remain stationary for long periods of time.

  2. Manage conversations in person, online, and by telephone. 

  3. Work well under pressure and manage stress well.

  4. Communicate clearly: speak, read, write, and hear clearly to perform essential functions.

Qualifications  

Professional

  1. Professional identity as a licensed marriage and family therapist.

  2. Master’s degree in MFT. Preference is given to graduates from COAMFTE programs.

  3. Completion of all university and campus on-boarding requirements.

  4. Meets at least one of the four criteria:

    1. Credentialed as an AAMFT-Approved Supervisor for at least 5 years.

    2. Taken a graduate course in MFT relational/systemic supervision equivalent to three semester-credit hours or postgraduate professional education in MFT relational/systemic supervision of at least 30 clock hours. 

    3. Credentialed as a state established MFT supervisor that includes relational/systemic supervision training; must have been a supervisor for at least 5 years. 

    4. Designation as an AAMFT Approved Supervisor for at least 5 years.

  5. Online instructional experience preferred.

  6. Computer literate in software and internet-based applications.

  7. Proficient in APA style (formatting, citation requirements, punctuation, etc.).

  2. Ability to view and manage role and responsibilities in relation to larger mission, goals, and perspective of the university.

  3. Collaborative nature, with the ability to build consensus.

  4. Outstanding organizational and project management skills with the ability to consistently meet deadlines.

  5. Self-motivated and solves problems, asking for input and initiating solutions as appropriate and reasonable.

  6. Capacity to quickly learn new software applications. 

  7. Willingness to receive additional training and/or faculty mentoring.

  8. Ability to demonstrate good judgment when interacting with students, other faculty and staff.
