Faculty Position Information  The successful candidate can expect to teach courses in Spanish language and Hispanic cultures and literature. The teaching load for this position is 24 credit hours per academic year, usually three to four courses per semester. Teaching expectations may include beginning and intermediate Spanish language and culture; and upper-level courses in Spanish for the professions (e.g., health care, etc.), language and linguistics, culture, literature, and language acquisition. In addition, there are ample opportunities for teaching (and doing research) for a summer or semester at our immersion study abroad site in Montevideo.
Qualifications

Core Qualifications: Candidates should hold a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Spanish or Hispanic studies. ABD candidates near completion will also be considered. A master’s degree is required. The successful candidate will have native or near-native fluency of Spanish and also demonstrate a keen ability to connect with our vibrant undergraduate students, sustain an active program of scholarship, and contribute to the life of the institution through faculty committees and other co-curricular service.

Preferred Qualifications:  A specialization in linguistics, language acquisition, translation, interpretation, or a closely related area is preferred although strong candidates in any area of specialization will also be considered.
