Basic Responsibilities |
1. Support the development and implementation of extracurricular and co-curricular spiritual and vocational formation programs for ACU Online students and staff, including initiatives such as blogs, devotionals, articles, and formation videos for the Center for Vocational Formation website. 2. Provide support in offering pastoral and spiritual care to ACU Online students, administrators, staff, and faculty. 3. Support managing the Center for Vocational Formation digital formation strategy including routine maintenance of the Center for Vocational Formation website scheduling regular social media posts and curating high-quality digital content. 4. Support the development and redesign of curricular vocational and spiritual formation elements in ACU Online programs. 5. Other duties and tasks. |
Essential Duties |
A. Support the implementation of extra-curricular and co-curricular vocational formation initiatives for ACU Online. 1. Support the development and implementation of initiatives that nurture the vocational formation of ACU Online students, thoughtfully adapted to our unique online learning environment and reflective of diverse theological perspectives. 2. Support the development of the Center for Vocational Formation online community spaces for ACU Online students, employees, and external audiences. 3. Support the developments of vocational formation training modules. These modules train and guide faculty and staff in best practices for supporting the spiritual life of ACU Online students while also helping employees and students explore and discern their own vocational identity. 4. Actively contribute to the ACU Online Vocational Formation Committee by engaging in discussions and collaborating on initiatives that promote vocational formation within the ACU Online community. 5. Develop and lead bi-annual assessment of all spiritual life programs and support annual campus spiritual life report. 6. Provide administrative support for ACU Online formation groups, like The Well, ACU Online employee Bible Study and employee and student prayer groups.
B. Support the pastoral and spiritual care for ACU Online students, administrators, staff, and faculty. 1. Support the planning of synchronous and asynchronous meetings which focuses on spiritual renewal and assist in curating other digital environments that nurture the well-being of the campus. 2. Support the development and implementation of spring and fall full day virtual retreats for ACU Online employees that emphasize their vocational formation. 3. Support Dean for Vocational Formation at yearly faculty in-person retreats. 4. Provide pastoral care to students, staff, and faculty. This includes but is not limited to creating and maintaining standard operating procedures for pastoral response in times of crisis, creating and maintaining resources for staff and faculty serving students in crisis, and being available for spiritual and pastoral counseling as needed.
C. Support the development and redesign of curricular vocational and spiritual formation elements and Undergraduate Bible requirement redesign. 1. Support Dean for Vocational Formation in the evaluation, development, or re-design of ACU Online undergraduate vocational formation elements. 2. Support Dean for Vocational Formation in the evaluation and development of vocational formation elements in ACU Online graduate programs. 3. Execution on other duties and tasks assigned by the Dean for Vocational Formation may be required.
D. Other duties and tasks. 1. Execution on other duties and tasks as may be assigned. 2. Encouraged to continue proficiency in their area of academic discipline. 3. Encouraged to teach at least one academic course per academic year when time allows. 4. Support Center for Vocational Formation in fostering the holistic health of ACU Online, which includes spiritual, social, and IEB work.

Qualifications |
ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. All qualified applicants must be professing Christians and willing to support the Christian mission and purpose of the university. Candidates who are active members of a Christian congregation are preferred.
A. Professional 1. Graduate degree in theology, ministry, pastoral care, or equivalent is required. Applicants who are currently pursuing a graduate theological degree will be considered. 2. Terminal degree from an accredited institution is preferred. 3. Teaching or administrative experience in higher education preferred. 4. 5-10 years of pastoral experience preferred. 5. Experience facilitating spiritual formation in an individual and group setting. 6. Computer literate in software and internet-based applications. 7. Proficient in curating digital rich media.
B. Personal 1. Commitment to a life of faith, the disciplines of spiritual formation, to include participation in a Body of Christ. 2. Has a spiritual guide, director, or mentor from whom they can be edified regularly. 3. Strong communication skills, both written and oral. 4. Ability to view and manage role and responsibilities in relation to the larger mission, goals, and perspective of the University. 5. Collaborative nature and excellent interpersonal abilities, with the ability to build consensus within cross-functional and multi-purposed teams, as well as diverse groups of people. 6. Outstanding organizational and project management skills with the ability to consistently meet deadlines. 7. Highly self-motivated and solves problems, asking for input and initiating solutions as appropriate and reasonable. 8. Ability to consistently make sound decisions and exercise good judgment in a variety of circumstances. 9. Capacity to quickly learn new software applications. 10.Willingness to receive additional training and/or mentoring.

Physical Demands |
1. Majority of work is performed in front of a computer and on the telephone; must have the ability to use the computer and remain stationary for long periods of time. 2. Manage conversations in person, online, and by telephone. 3. Limited travel–locations vary, and some overnight travel may be necessary. 4. Work well under pressure and manage stress well. 5. Communicate clearly: speak, read, write, and hear clearly to perform essential functions.
