Title of Position Systems Analyst

Basic Responsibilities A. Provide end-user customer support.
B. Participate in on-call rotation.
C. Provide consultation and project management to university departments.
D. Install and maintain software used by the university.
E. Centrally document procedures and tasks in a detailed format for knowledge sharing.
Essential Duties

A. Provide end-user customer support
1. Research questions and problems concerning the software systems.
2. Respond to customer’s questions and concerns.
3. Train end-users to effectively use software.

B. Participate in on-call rotation.
1. Support Helpdesk and provide second-tier support for services maintained by Enterprise Applications.
2. Resolve issues in a timely manner so that campus users can successfully use computing services.
3. Respond to after-hour emergencies and facilitate timely resolutions.

C. Provide consultation and project management to university departments.
1. Gather specifications from departments wishing to acquire, implement, and maintain software to maximize effectiveness.
2. Collaborate with vendors to identify solutions that meet university needs.
3. Collaborate with team members to develop and/or integrate software that meets university needs.

D. Install and maintain software used by the university.
1. Install software system upgrades.
2. Document the systems.
3. Complete daily tasks to ensure system performance.
4. Participate in both technical and non-technical teams to maximize use of software.

E. Centrally document procedures and tasks in a detailed format for knowledge sharing.
1. Write procedures to document daily tasks.
2. Documenting, auditing and enforcing processes.

Professional Development Requirements

A. Skills
1. Functional knowledge of the following operating systems: Windows and Linux.
2. Database management experience in a relational database management system such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL.
3. Adept interpersonal and communications skills. This includes the ability to translate computer related jargon into terms understandable to the end-user.
4. Strong organizational skills.
5. Ability to keep current with information technology and its application to higher education. This includes participating in conferences and training classes on higher education application software or computer systems

B. Training Modules Required
1. Interpersonal and communication classes and workshops.
2. Operating systems utilities and commands courses or equivalent.
3. Time and multiple priorities management workshops.
4. Application software and training, including Banner, CS Gold and CRM systems.
5. Attend occasional out of town conferences and training.

Qualifications

A. Professional
1. BS or BBA Degree, preferably in Computer Science or Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
2. Programming, database support, and systems support duties for at least 2 years.

B. Personal
1. Work as a team member.
2. Good communication skills: oral and written.
3. Strong people skills: interact with students, staff, faculty, contractors, and vendors.
4. Strong customer service, leadership, organizational, communication and interface skills.

Physical Demands A. Must be able to work with a computer for extended periods of time (88% of the time).
B. Must be able to work occasional extended work hours. This includes responding to telephone calls outside of business hours while maintaining normal work hours.
