Title of Position Associate Director - Trust, Investments & Endowment Accountant

Basic Responsibilities & Essential Duties

In this role, the employee will assist with the detailed daily accounting and data entry for investments,
endowments, charitable trusts and charitable annuities by using a variety of financial general ledger, oil
and gas, and trust software systems.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with complex journal entries, domestic and international wires, reconciliations, internal management reporting, external beneficiary reporting, ensuring the ongoing accuracy and maintenance of the trust and investment management system
  • Month-end close procedures, year-end and financial statement audit procedures, assisting with trust tax return information, assisting with the creation of new endowment agreements
  • Maintaining pertinent documentation and supporting relationships with other campus offices such as Legal, Advancement, Student Financial Services, Stewardship and Finance.

It will be necessary to stay informed of current and developing accounting principles, organizational procedures and tax related issues as they pertain to the university accounting and charitable trust accounting industries.

This role will be expected to support other office functions as needed and there will be seasonal times when
working beyond a 40-hour work week might be necessary to meet internal and external deadlines. There will be occasions when this position is asked to help other employees with duties to help maintain efficiency and for the betterment of the office as a whole.

Qualifications
  • Accounting degree (required)

  • MACC and/or CPA (preferred)

  • Significant accounting and general ledger experience, with a demonstrated ability for detail

  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, Word and Adobe is required.

  • Excellent organizational skills with an insistence for accuracy and a high level of personal integrity and confidentiality

  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks well by prioritizing, being flexible and able to adjust to frequent change or interruption in our high-volume service area.

Professional and personal qualifications will be validated through the interview process and reference checks regarding past employment experience will be made.

Physical Demands This position requires the ability to sit and work at the computer for long periods of time.
