Title of Position Vice President - ACIMCO
Posting Location Abilene, Texas
Department ACIMCO / Investment Services
Employee Class Executive (Dean, VP)
Position Overview

The Abilene Christian Investment Management Company (ACIMCO), which manages the ACU endowment, seeks a Vice President to assist with investments, including responsibility for the real estate and oil & gas investments. ACU’s real assets include directly owned properties, including mineral & royalty interests, rental properties, retail and restaurant spaces, ranchland, and wind & solar farms, as well as externally managed private equity investments. The role may require other responsibilities as well, including across our endowment’s myriad public and private equity investments.

ACIMCO is looking for a team-player with excellent communication and analytical skills who can take ill- defined and open-ended tasks and responsibilities and demonstrate self-initiative to improve and enhance value. Technological competence and a desire to adopt new software and AI tools are both required. Additionally, innate curiosity and a competitive desire for excellence are required. The position may add additional responsibilities over time, depending on the needs of the ACU endowment and the person’s capabilities/interests. The new position will also interact regularly with people external to the University who are partners, vendors, and counterparties; the expectation is that this person will represent ACU and its endowment in a professional manner. This Vice President position has the potential to grow in scale and responsibility over time.

Key Responsibilities

Asset & Portfolio Management:

  • Monitor and manage mineral and royalty interests, optimizing cash flow from oil & gas production through lease negotiations, production monitoring, and operator engagement.
  • Manage direct ownership of residential and commercial properties, including rent houses, retail centers, and restaurants, ensuring asset optimization, tenant relations, and long-term financial performance.
  • Oversee ranchland holdings with wind and/or solar farms, working with renewable energy operators to maximize lease revenues and ensure compliance with land-use agreements, as well as managing surface rights including hunting and grazing leases.
  • Conduct financial analysis, market research, and valuation assessments to support acquisition, disposition, and strategic planning decisions.
  • Other, wide-ranging responsibilities across public and private investments held by ACU. This may include legal documentation, governance-related matters, and interactions involving the University-side operations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (law or master’s degree is appreciated)
  • Specific experience in real estate asset management, energy investment management, or a combination of both, is helpful.
  • Experience negotiating complex leases, contracts, and partnership agreements.
  • Financial modeling (Microsoft Excel), asset valuation, and investment analysis. Financial acumen and agility is a pre-requisite.
  • Ability to work in a relatively unstructured team environment by setting one’s own priorities and value-add initiatives and seeing these through to realization.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Physical Demands
  • Requires the ability to sit and work on a computer for extended periods of time
