Basic Responsibilities
  • Administer effective annual assessment of student learning outcomes in academic programs and general education.
  • Facilitate assessment of academic initiatives and use of data.
  • Provide research and analytical support to Academic Affairs.
Essential Duties  
  • Administer effective annual assessment of student learning outcomes in academic programs and general education.
    • Recommend and maintain an internal system for collecting annual program outcomes assessment reports.
    • Support faculty in use of the outcomes assessment reporting system.
    • Partner with others to educate faculty about best practices in program outcomes, data collection, and use of results.
    • Work with the University General Education Council to maintain an assessment plan for undergraduate student learning outcomes.
    • Maintain a system and collect data annually to assess outcomes in general education. 
    • Support any faculty assessment teams that conduct general education assessment, such as capstone classes and Writing Across the Curriculum.
    • Compile the annual general education assessment report.
  • Facilitate assessment of academic initiatives and use of data.
    • Coordinate with partners in Institutional Research and Information Technology to ensure that the institution’s academic data is available for annual program review.
    • Support faculty in the analysis of program data as necessary.
    • Support the faculty assessment director of the Quality Enhancement Plan or collect data and report annually on the findings for progress on the university’s QEP in support of SACSCOC requirements.
    • Report on course evaluation highlights each semester for the campuses and institution.
    • Communicate assessment findings to appropriate groups and academic units that need to understand the results in order to apply them.
  • Provide research and analytical support to Academic Affairs.
    • Generate ad hoc reports related to various academic needs including identifying  trends, recommending areas for change and growth in programs, etc.
    • Contribute to special projects related to academic quality, accreditation, and faculty administration.
    • Support documentation of academic credentialing and analyze faculty roster reports as needed.
    • Learn about institutional accreditation and support its ongoing maintenance at ACU.

    • Ability to communicate technical or complex information clearly to multiple audiences.
    • Ability to manage multiple, diverse ongoing projects with attention to detail and deadlines.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and Google Suite.
  • Training Required
    • Training as necessary on software that the university uses for assessment tasks.
    • Ongoing professional development with organizations focusing on academic assessment (e.g., SACSCOC, TxAHEA, NILOA, etc.)
Qualifications

Professional

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required (master’s preferred).
  • Familiarity with data analysis required; some statistical knowledge preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability of analytical reasoning in a professional context.
  • Experience distilling large amounts of information, reaching clear conclusions, and preparing reports and publications that make information clear and useful.
  • Demonstrated preparation for outcomes-based work, whether by education in a field such as curriculum and instruction or in job experience, is preferred.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to help others understand why information matters.
