Basic Responsibilities |
A. Oversees all electrical equipment distribution systems controls and signal equipment. Assures that all electrical services are functioning at all times. |
Essential Duties |
A. 1. Coordinates work with all University personnel and departments as needed. 2. Process estimates for new or remodeling work as requested. 3. Works with and supervises outside contractors performing special projects and repair
B. 1. Fills out work orders and written reports daily as needed 2. Plans and organizes assigned by the Director of MEP 3. Follows established rules, policies, and procedures of the Physical Plant and the University. 4. Cooperate with other people within the department and other department personnel in completing assigned tasks. Display the necessary initiative to work alone or in groups.
C. 1. Responsible for security of buildings as accessed with assigned master keys 2. Maintains a positive attitude that is reflected by quality work and performance, always striving to improve. Assist other trades as needed in the spirit of cooperation and teamwork.
D. 1. Be on call 24 hours per day |
Professional Development Requirements |
A. Skills 1. Must be able to read and interpret electrical blue prints, diagrams, and schematics 2. Must be able to use all types of electrical hand and power tools; i.e., benders, puller, etc. 3. Troubleshoot and wire electrical systems working with and around the various electrical voltages and phases
B. Training Modules Required 1. High School education 2. Technical training in electrical field normally attributed to an Apprentice level or Journeyman’s electrician who has completed a recognized apprenticeship of vocational program. 3. Knowledge of regulatory codes and requirements such as National Code and City’s Uniform Mechanical and Building Code. |
Qualifications |
A. Professional 1. Minimum for (4) years in related field 2. Journeyman license or aggressive emphasis to become licensed Master Electrician. 3. Work ethics to assure direct responsibility to Abilene Christian University, and under no circumstance should extra personal work (moonlighting) conflict with work requested by Abilene Christian University
B. Personal 1. Self-motivations; initiative 2. Pride in performing quality work 3. Responsible 4. Good moral character 5. Valid U.S drivers license |
Physical Demands |
A. Lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds B. Be able to with assistance, move and transport materials and equipment weighing in excess of two-hundred (200) pounds C. Be able to work in confined spaces requiring bending or stopping for long periods, and able to work from ladders or elevated platforms |
