Basic Responsibilities |

Essential Duties |
A) Manage daily operations of the Maker Lab 1. support Assistant Director in managing student workers 2. provide training and assistance to makers 3. oversee tool repair/maintenance 4. computer repair/maintenance 5. manage tool reservation calendars 6. maintain OSHA compliance 7. manage safety training and safety certification program
B) Manage departmental budget and financial transactions in collaboration with the Dean’s office 1. manage expenses and income for the Maker Lab store 2. manage budget 3. manage and execute purchasing 4. manage and administer maker grants
C) Manage departmental reporting, instruction, and marketing for the Maker Lab 1. serve as a contact point for ACU and the community. 2. organize and conduct workshops (Creative U, Maker Monday, etc) 3. serve as ACU dept contact point (admissions, advancement, creative services, etc) 4. manage the blog, social media channels, and email newsletters 5. supervise tours/visitors 6. manage maker database, organize and publish statistics
D) Lead planning for the Maker Lab 1. Participate in national conversations about Maker education 2. Collaboratively compose an annual strategic plan with a 5-year vision document.

Professional Development Requirements |
Skills 1. Ability to manage and lead people to produce excellent customer service, optimal program performance, and exacting safety standards. 2. Intermediate to advanced knowledge and skills with computers and digital fabrication equipment. 3. Working knowledge of various software packages, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and other various CAD programs 4. Working knowledge of various electronics, hand, and shop tools 5. Basic digital photography skills. 6. Ability to manage supply and control inventory.
Training Modules Required 1. Usage and safety training for wood and metalworking equipment in the fabrication shop 2. Computer Aided Design (CAD) software and 3D printing

Qualifications |
Professional 1. Successful experience in tinkering, crafts, engineering, or other creativity with physical or electronic objects. 2. Enthusiasm and knowledge about the use of emerging technologies to support creative, engaged learning. 3. Ability to manage and lead change and innovation in a dynamic and complex working environment. 4. Ability to teach and train staff and students and to evaluate their learning 5. Ability to work with students in an educational and problem-solving environment 6. Computer word-processing, database management, web design, and digital image management skills 7. Personnel management experience 8. Knowledge and experience in book repair preferred 9. Ability to communicate needs and issues effectively with library faculty/staff and technology staff 10. Knowledge of the making culture and education preferred 11. Bachelor’s degree required, with graduate degree preferred. 12. Experience in Graphic Arts, Engineering, Physics, Educational Technology, Computer Science, or Library Science is preferred.
