Title of Position Loan Specialist

Basic Responsibilities A. Process Federal, State and Alternative loans. Ensuring the accuracy, timeliness and
meeting of compliance requirements for each.
B. Network and collaborate with lenders and stay abreast of new product offerings.
C. Provide primary liaison services for other on-campus departments on loan related
issues.
D. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties

A. Process federal, state and alternative loans.
1. Ensure policies and procedures are maintained and executed in accordance with
associated federal, state, institutional regulations.
i. Primary support for federal (Direct, PLUS), state (CAL) loan processing
ii. Secondary lead for alternative loans
2. Transfer and process COD data relating to Direct Loans, Pell, and TEACH
grants.
3. Process electronic fund transfers, loan verifications and certifications in an
accurate and timely manner.
4. Verify that student entrance and exit requirements are met for all loans and
federal TEACH Grants.
5. Monitor exit counseling for seniors prior to graduation.
6. Assist in assembling exit packets for graduating and withdrawing students.

7. Perform reconciliation duties for the various loan programs, as mandated or
according to internal SFS policies.
B. Network and collaborate with lenders and stay abreast of new product
offerings.
1. Meet with lender representatives who call upon ACU.
2. Be conscientious of new loan products that are available to help us maximize
the ACU student experience and administrative ease.
3. Maintain ACU's preferred lenders list and ensure list members are competitive
in their services to students.
4. Maintain other consumer info details on various media (web content,
brochures, etc.).
C. Provide primary liaison services for other, on-campus departments
1. Keep Admissions and Wildcat Central staff abreast of answers to loan-related
questions.
2. Provide secondary-level information when Wildcat Central or other front-line
services require assistance.
3. Assist with the development and delivery of loan-related training for SFS,
Admissions, Wildcat Central and other ACU staff.
D. Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to:
1. Assist with other SFS processes or activities as needed;
2. Be available to assist students and their families by providing general financial
aid information as needed; or
3. Assist with and develop loan default and financial literacy efforts for students.

Professional Development Requirements A. Skills - Demonstrated competency in the following:
1. Oral and written use of the English language
2. Business math aptitude
3. Microsoft Word and Excel
B. Training Modules Required
1. FSA resources
2. NASFAA resources
3. Loan processing
Qualifications

A. Professional
1. High school diploma required. College degree preferred.
2. Minimum of two years’ experience in any financial processing sector preferred.

3. Experience or knowledge in the financial aid field preferred.
4. Experience in customer service a plus.
5. Experience with Ellucian Banner is a plus.
B. Personal

follows up with others to ensure that agreements and commitments have been
fulfilled.
5. Initiative - Identifies what needs to be done and does it before being asked to or
required by the situation.

Physical Demands A. Sit for extended periods while working on the computer.
B. Ability to successfully participate in extended telephone conversations with
students and parents.
