Basic Responsibilities A. Facilitate application for new nursing program approval from the Texas Higher Education
Coordinating Board and the Texas Board of Nursing.
B. Facilitate academic and Board of Nursing approval for the new program including new
courses.
C. Oversee program curriculum including course development and compliance with CGPS Online Course Standards.
D. Hire and supervise all program faculty, both full- and part-time.
E. Teach in the A.A.S. Nursing online program.
F. Oversee admissions decisions and student affairs for the program.
G. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties A. Facilitate application and process for new nursing program approval from the Texas Higher
Education Coordinating Board and the Texas Board of Nursing.
1. Prepare all documentation for approval.
2. Serve as the program’s liaison with the Texas Board of Nursing.
3. Coordinate any necessary meetings and site visits.
B. Facilitate academic approval for the new program application and creation of new courses or
assimilation of shared courses and maintain program documentation as needed.
1. Establish program curriculum in accordance with the Education Guidelines of the Texas Board of Nursing.
2. Coordinate with the Dean of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies and the Assistant Provost for Academic Development (ACU Dallas) in the preparation of documentation for the program application and new course approvals in the CGPS Academic Council.
3. For any shared courses, collaborate with ACU Abilene departments on maintaining course outcomes and course descriptions.
4. Prepare appropriate documents for Academic Councils when needed.
C. Oversee program curriculum including course development and compliance with CGPS Online
Course Standards.
1. Oversee course development and ensure that CGPS Online Course Standards are met.
2. Work with Instructional Design to identify and supervise subject matter experts (SMEs), provide curriculum mapping information, and oversight of the course development process.
3. Uphold the CGPS Online Course Standards and clearly communicate course expectations with SMEs.
D. Hire and supervise all program faculty, both full- and part-time.
1. Screen and interview potential faculty and make hiring recommendations to the Dean’s Office.
2. Work with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, ACU Dallas Strategic Learning Operations, and the CGPS Dean’s office to review credentials for faculty and verify faculty are credentialed to teach assigned courses.
3. Review course evaluations and provide feedback to faculty in a timely manner.
4. Meet with full-time faculty to develop annual goals and perform annual evaluations.
5. Establish and maintain a credentialed pool of part-time faculty.
6. Evaluate and mentor part-time faculty in accordance with guidelines provided by the Dean of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies.
7. Supervise faculty and initiate any improvement plans or performance initiatives. Make recommendations to the Dean of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies for any disciplinary action (including terminations) and for merit increases.
8. Schedule and lead program faculty meetings.
9. Develop and coordinate training for all program faculty, including part-time.
10. Work closely with Dallas Strategic Learning Operations to monitor faculty workload and
assign faculty to sections.
11. Ensure course grades are entered in accordance with posting deadlines.
E. Teach in the A.A.S. Nursing online program.
1. Teach 18 credit hours per academic year. No more than three clock hours per week per Texas Board of Nursing qualification standards.
a. Administer and provide instruction in assigned courses. Duties include, but are not limited to, placing students in groups for assignments/discussions, conducting periodic synchronous interaction sessions, facilitating and grading all written and discussion assignments in a timely manner, and providing rich and timely feedback on student work.
b. Provide timely and helpful answers to students’ inquiries regarding coursevmaterial or academic matters.
2. Complete Outcomes Assessment Report and communicate findings to appropriate administrators and the college.
F. Oversee admissions decisions and student affairs for the program.
1. Collaborate with the CGPS Dean’s Office in enforcing academic policies and developing academic policies when needed.
2. Partner with ACU Dallas Enrollment Management to communicate program outcomes, program distinctives, and other information to assist in communications with student prospects.
3. Partner with ACU Dallas Student Services to provide program and course-specific insight.
4. Handle student concerns or student complaints in a timely manner in coordination with the Dean’s Office.
G. Miscellaneous.
1. Participate in college faculty meetings, academic council meetings, and 4DX meetings.
2. Provide service to the program, the college, and the university through participation in committees and other initiatives.
3. Engage in research and/or professional practice, as appropriate to the faculty’s area of discipline and licensure requirements.
4. Such other tasks as the Dean of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies may assign from time to time.

A. Professional
1. Texas Board of Nursing Requirements:
a. Holds an unencumbered current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Texas.
b. Holds a master’s degree or a doctoral degree in nursing.
c. Holds a doctoral degree, if administering a baccalaureate or master’s program
d. Has a minimum of two years of teaching experience in a professional nursing education program.
e. Has demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities in administration within a professional nursing education program.
f. Not carry a teaching load of more than three clock hours per week if required to teach.
2. Experience teaching, designing, and developing online coursework.
3. Computer literate in software and internet-based applications.
B. Personal
1. Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
2. Ability to view and manage roles and responsibilities in relation to the larger mission,
goals, and perspective of the University.
3. Collaborative nature and excellent interpersonal abilities, with the ability to build
consensus within cross-functional and multi-purposed teams, as well as diverse groups

Physical Demands A. The majority of work is performed in front of a computer and on the telephone; must have the ability to use the computer and remain stationary for long periods of time.

C. Limited travel – locations vary and some overnight travel may be necessary.
D. Work well under pressure and manage stress well.
E. Communicate clearly: speak, read, write, and hear clearly to perform essential functions.
