Faculty Full-time

The School of Social Work at Abilene Christian University invites applications and/or nominations for an associate director of field education and assistant professor, tenure-track position in the MSSW program with appointment in August 2024.

ACU’s School of Social Work offers both the Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) and the Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW) degrees. Although the successful candidate will be primarily assigned to the graduate program, they will be expected to teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The graduate program has a single concentration in Advanced Generalist Practice, and both programs utilize a research capstone experience, with the MSSW requiring an applied research project. This position assists the Director of Field Education in administering the MSSW field education components in compliance with the curriculum, CSWE accreditation standards, ACU administrative policies, and the School of Social Work field policy manuals.

The successful candidate should hold a master’s degree in social work from a CSWE-accredited or an internationally recognized social work program. A doctorate in social work or related field is preferred. The ability to teach across the social work curriculum is expected. However, preference will be given to candidates who have strong clinical/micro-practice backgrounds. Teaching experience in an online modality is highly desirable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

The Associate Director must have at least five (5) years’ post-MSSW practice experience and two (2) years in field education experience including supervising students and/or agency employees. Evidence of leadership ability through teaching, scholarship, curriculum development and administrative experience is preferred, as is demonstrated involvement with community and professional organizations (e.g., board service, committee appointments, and so on). Possession of the LCSW or equivalent is highly desired.
