About ACU

ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. All applicants must be professing Christians and willing to support the Christian mission and purpose of Abilene Christian University while employed by the university.
Title of Position Maker on Duty
Department Maker Lab
Hours per Week 5-15
Job Qualifications We are looking for students who have good people skills, are excited to learn, and enjoy being creative.
Position Description/ Job Duties
  • Check email regularly and respond promptly; even off-shift days/times
  • Check SLACK regularly and respond promptly; even off-shift days/times
  • Cordially greet all students, faculty, staff and visitors as they enter the Maker Lab
  • Make sure every user/visitor signs into the Maker Lab upon arrival
  • Help students, faculty, staff and visitors conduct projects in the Maker Lab
  • Be willing and proactive to visit with makers who need assistance
  • Provide appropriate face-to-face training to makers as needed/requested
  • Supervise all activity (check on regularly) involving all power tools
  • Fill out an incident report in the event of tool breakage or accident, regardless of injuries
  • Dust off tables, sweep, and vacuum the area around the tables or machines and clean all tools used
  • Reset space (move furniture back to its original configuration)
  • Reset tools (return tools to proper storage location and room)
  • Clean dry-erase boards, retract extension cords, clean tables
  • Help with cleanup (remove any trash left out)
  • Manage Maker Lab materials and supplies and maintain up-to-date inventory
  • Sell Maker Lab Store products using TouchNet on the store PC
  • Assist with scheduling and managing tool reservations
  • Give tours of the Maker Lab to visitors
  • Other daily duties as assigned
Preferred Availability Mon-Thursday 9-8, Fri 9-5, Sat 12-5 (some summer hours available)
