Basic Responsibilities 1. Serve as the Financial Manager of the School of Social Work;
2. Coordinate graduate recruiting efforts of the School;
3. Serve as Academic Advisor for graduate students;
4. Function as Media Director for the School;
5. Perform selected administrative responsibilities for the School;
6. Serve as “Assistant to” Director of Field Education
7. Teach at least one course a year, no more than one course a semester, in the School
Essential Duties 1. Assist the financial management of the School
a. Initiate PAFs
i. Adjuncts
ii.Student Workers
iii. Graduate Assistants
iv. Other compensated positions
b. Manage budget revisions and transfers
c. Coordinate purchasing card activities
i. Maintain receipts
ii.Manage reallocations to proper budget lines
2. Coordinate graduate recruiting efforts of the School of Social Work
a. Coordinate recruiting efforts with the Graduate Office
i. Maintain current list of inquiries and application status
ii.Supervise student worker provided by Graduate Office
b. Manage communication with prospects and faculty (phone, email, social media)
c. Communicate admission and financial aid decisions to prospective students
d. Staff Graduate Admissions Committee, including managing packets, scheduling
meetings, maintaining minutes
3. Serve as Academic Advisor for graduate students
a. Establish and maintain degree plans for all grad students
b. Coordinate course enrollments with Graduate Office
c. Schedule professional advising with graduate faculty
d. Maintain on-going roster of graduate student enrollees
4. Serve as Media Director for the School of Social Work
a. Monitor and make recommendations for changes in the School’s web site
b. Supervise all School social media efforts (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
c. Coordinate periodic public relations documents for the School
i. Newsletter
ii.Brochure Development
iii. Recruiting Materials
d. Develop drafts of press releases, media stories, newsletter articles for review and
release by the School
e. Serve as Alumni Director for the School
5. Serve as “Assistant to” the Director of Field Education
a. Assist in the recruiting of new field agencies
b. Assist in the maintenance of current Affiliation Agreements with agencies
c. Assist with software implementation and use for field functions (currently “Sonia”)
6. Perform selected administrative responsibilities for the School
a. Assist with selection, development and maintenance of software used for remote
education activities
b. Serve as Classroom Coordinator for SSW classroom space
c. Schedule assigned classrooms and other School space and equipment use
d. Assure that classrooms are opened in the morning and locked in the afternoon
e. Staff faculty meetings, including managing scheduling of meetings, recording minutes,
and maintaining records of faculty meetings
f. Other as assigned
7. If academically qualified, this position may include instructional assignment to the
undergraduate or graduate curriculum, as needed by the School of Social Work.
   
Qualifications Education and Experience
1. Graduate degree or professional social work degree required; MSW strongly preferred. BSW,
BSW and other graduate degree, or other graduate degree in allied field may be considered.
2. Two years post-graduate experience in an area consistent with the expectations of this job
highly preferred; candidates with at least three years pre-graduate degree experience in a
related position may be considered
3. Professional
a. Computer competency, with knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, the current
ACU computer technology and use of ACU-related software packages.
b. Graduate-level verbal and written communication skills.
c. Documented education and experience related to stated responsibilities and
duties.
4. Personal
a. Interpersonal skills, including effective public presence, clear and productive
communication, and ability to build effective working relationships.
b. Flexibility in work conduct, discretion and confidentiality in handling information
related to the University, the School of Social Work and its faculty, staff, and
students.
c. Personal time management that promotes multi-tasking and functioning
productively under pressure in a busy office atmosphere.
Physical Demands 1. Ability and energy to physically negotiate the ACU campus and its buildings
2. Sitting and computer posture for periods of up to 30 minutes at a time
3. Lifting/moving of office-related items for operations or events (up to 15 lbs.)
4. Physical capabilities to engage in all responsibilities and essential duties identified in this
position description.
