Basic Responsibilities A. Provide excellent customer service in the supervision of library circulation department
B. Assist in the security and maintenance of the Library Building.
Essential Duties

A. Provide excellent customer service in the leadership of the library circulation department
1. Provide in-person customer support weekdays, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
2. Recruit, interview, hire, and evaluate performance of student workers for Circulation
Services
3. Create and assign student worker shift schedules, review and approve timesheets
4. Train new Circulation Services student workers on policies and procedures.
5. Maintain Circulation Services policies and procedures manual for student workers
6. Coordinate student worker support for shelving/shelf-reading/inventory
7. Hire and supervise ALC student courier including timesheets and automobile
mileage expense reports.
8. Oversee maintenance of borrower accounts and circulation of library materials in the
Integrated Library System in partnership with the Abilene Library Consortium
9. Oversee ACU Library’s participation in ALC Courier Service by supervising
retrieval of materials for the library’s collection for sending to other libraries and
receiving library materials for ACU borrowers.

10. Manage assumed lost and lost materials and Learning Studio equipment through reports
and contact with delinquent borrowers.
11. Bill lost library materials and Learning Studio equipment fines on Banner billing system
and prepare monthly billing report
12. Daily accounting of cash box
13. Communicate library hours to the Abilene Library Consortium and the ACU community.
14. Work with ACU Banner system for ACU student, faculty and staff patron loads during
the semester and the summer.
15. Prepare annual gate count reports as required by administrators.
B. Assist in the security and physical maintenance of the library building
1. Ensure that the Library is a safe and welcoming place for all customers, maintaining an
atmosphere and appropriate noise levels conducive to study and research.
2. In active coordination with the Dean’s administrative coordinator, assist in monitoring
the building to ensure that it is clean, the furniture is returned to the proper place, and
that maintenance problems are reported in a timely manner.

1. Basic operation and knowledge of computers
2. Excellent phone and email etiquette
3. Responsible leadership experiences in management or supervisory experiences.
4. Outstanding interpersonal skills in a public-facing service environment.
B. Training Modules Required
1. ACU Banner Finance and Banner Student systems
2. Library ILS (SirsiDynix)
Qualifications

A. Professional
1. High School diploma or equivalent
2. Experience working in a customer service environment
3. Supervision experience preferred
4. Professional experience working with university students preferred

B. Personal
1. Self-starter, with ability to work with minimal direction, and willingness to learn and
utilize new skills.
2. Integrity, with ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality with patrons’
personal information.

Physical Demands 1. Computer posture for extended periods of time
2. Lifting/moving library related items up to 25 pounds
