Basic Responsibilities A. Cultivate partnerships and direct strategy for the department and university.
B. Oversee management of projects through appropriate tools and processes.
C. Maintain the department’s effectiveness and efficiency.
D. Manage department personnel to ensure that individuals are successful and contribute
to a successful team.
Essential Duties

A. Cultivate partnerships and direct strategy for the department and university.
1. Develop relationships with administrative and academic university leaders to
understand and inform technology use.
2. Review project proposals to determine goals, time frame, funding limitations and
procedures for completing requests.
3. Cultivate partnerships with key vendors to maximize value for the university.
4. Monitor technology trends and evaluate emerging technologies.

B. Oversee management of projects through appropriate tools and processes.
1. Recommend the use of appropriate project management strategies, such as agile
development, to effectively complete projects in a timely manner.
2. Coordinate activities to ensure that projects are on schedule and within budget.
3. Prepare project status reports so that key stakeholders and campus leadership are
informed.
4. Identify applications and technologies that will help with the management of
projects.

C. Maintain the department’s effectiveness and efficiency.
1. Establish and uphold policies and procedures that result in stable user
experiences.
2. Direct the installation, development, management, and maintenance of ACU’s
enterprise applications.
3. Manage the departmental resources to maximize the value to the university.
4. Communicate status to interested parties.

D. Manage department personnel to ensure that individuals are successful and contribute
to a successful team.
1. Recruit, hire, review performance and direct the activities of the staff.
2. Identify employee-development needs and prescribe professional development
activities.
3. Assign duties and responsibilities to create a successful team.

Professional Development Requirements

A. Skills
1. Analytical and organizational skills.
2. Strong writing skills.
3. Ability to review and make recommendations to improve and streamline
processes.
4. Ability to organize complex projects.
5. Ability to train and lead staff.
6. Ability to design and implement programs.
7. Knowledge of department-specific software.
8. Knowledge of communication, presentation, and interpersonal relationship
techniques.
9. Knowledge of customer service techniques.
10. Ability to keep current with information technology and its application to higher
education.

B. Training modules required
1. Interpersonal and communication classes and workshops.
2. Operating systems utilities and commands courses or equivalent.
3. Programming training courses.
4. Time and multiple priorities management workshops.
5. Agile development methodologies like Scrum and Kanban.

Qualifications

A. Professional
1. BS or BBA degree, preferable in Computer Science or Management Information
Systems, or equivalent experience.
2. Programming, database support, and systems support duties for at least ten years.
3. Applications support responsibilities for at least five to ten years.

B. Personal
1. Work as a team member.
2. Good communications skills: oral and written.
3. Strong people skills: interact with students, faculty, staff, contractors, and
vendors.

Physical Demands A. Must be able to work with a computer for extended periods of time (88% of the time).
B. Must be able to work occasional extended work hours. This includes responding to
telephone calls outside of business hours while maintaining normal work hours.
