Title of Position Community Relations Coordinator

Employee Class Non-exempt/Part-time
Basic Responsibilities A. Manage the Griggs Center’s external relationships with local community partners
B. Assist in the planning and implementation of various community programs
Essential Duties A. Manage the program’s external relationships
1. Develop and strengthen relationships with all partners in the local community.
2. Serve as a primary point of contact for local organizations and/or businesses who are interested in developing partnerships with the Griggs Center’s students, staff or faculty
3. Solicit local businesses and organizations as sponsors and/or partners
4. Assist in the recruiting of judges for any community competitions

B. Assist in the planning and implementation of various community programs
1. Assist in the management of community competitions and training programs (e.g. Springboard, BE in Abilene, etc.)
2. Coordinate networking events for local entrepreneurship community (e.g. Startup Week)
3. Expand the community’s awareness of the Griggs Center’s programs
Professional Development Requirements A. Skills
1. Must be personable
2. Able to proactively identify and establlish relationships with potential new community partners
3. Able to manage multiple large projects
4. Maintain professionalism

B. Training Modules Required
1. Computer software training as updates demand.
Qualifications A. Professional
1. Minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required (a BBA is preferred)
2. Ability to organize strategic planning and budgeting procedures
3. Ability to interact with and promote program to students and community members

B. Personal
1. Strong interpersonal communication skills.
2. Ability to work and interact well with students
3. Self-motivated, resourceful and creative
Physical Demands A. Able to stand for extended periods of time.
B. Able to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.
C. Able to sit in meetings for extended periods of time.
D. Be available to work evenings and/or weekends on occasion in addition to regular office hours
